LocalSale Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026 · App version 1.25 (iOS) / 1.58 (Android)

LocalSale ("the app", "we") helps you find and post garage sales, yard sales and estate sales near you, and chat with neighbors in a small community feed. This policy describes what information the app handles.

Summary: LocalSale lets you publish sale listings and community posts that other users can see. To make that work, the listings, items, photos and posts you choose to publish — and the display name you pick — are stored on our backend and shown publicly. We do not require your name, email or phone number, and we do not sell your data. The app shows no third-party advertising; the only promotions inside it are for our own other apps. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage statistics to improve the app — in our own records and, from app version 1.17 (iOS) / 1.44 (Android), through Google Analytics for Firebase; you can turn both off in Settings — and we use the Meta Platforms SDK to measure which ads brought people to LocalSale (see Advertising measurement below).

Information we collect

1. Content you publish

2. An anonymous identifier

When you first use the app it signs in anonymously and is assigned a random ID so your own sales, posts, likes and saved sales can be associated with you. This ID is not linked to your name, email, phone, or any advertising identifier.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which features are used and to fix problems, the app records a small number of usage events — for example "app opened", "sale viewed", "directions tapped", "sale posted", "share tapped", "filter applied". Each event contains only: the anonymous ID above, a random install ID, platform (iOS/Android), app version, the event name, and small non-personal details (such as the radius you chose or the ID of the sale viewed). One event ("map ready", once per app launch) also records how far away the nearest sale is, as a coarse range (under 25 km / 25–100 km / 100–500 km / over 500 km) together with whether you allowed location — so we can tell whether people leave because there is nothing near them. When you search an area other than your own location (a pinned spot, "search this area", a typed place or a busy area), "filter applied" also records how many sales matched, as a coarse range (0 / 1–5 / 6–20 / over 20); searches around your own location do not record this. If you leave the post-a-sale screen without posting, one event records which fields you had filled (e.g. "address, photo" — never what you typed) and roughly how long you stayed, so we can see where posting gets hard. No coordinates, address or place name is recorded. No name, email, contacts, photos, message text or precise device location is included. These records are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted. They are never shared with advertisers or sold.

Google Analytics for Firebase (from app version 1.17 on iOS / 1.44 on Android). To see which screens people open, where they get stuck and where they leave, the app also sends anonymous usage information to Google Analytics for Firebase, a service of Google LLC that processes it on our behalf: which screens you view and for how long, the features above (by their names, e.g. "share tapped", "offer sent") and short failure codes (e.g. "network"). It identifies this installation of the app by a random app-instance ID created by Firebase — not your name, email, our anonymous ID or an advertising identifier. We turned off collection of the advertising ID (Android), Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and identifier for vendors (IDFV), and ad-personalization signals. Google automatically receives the device model, operating system version, app version and language, and derives an approximate location (country, region, city) from the device's IP address; your device's location permission is not used for this. No sale, item or chat IDs, addresses, place names, search text, messages or photos are sent. Google keeps this data for 14 months; copies exported to our analytics database are kept for 60 days. We use it only to improve LocalSale — not for advertising. We have turned off the setting that lets Google use this data to improve Google's own products and services; under Google's data processing terms Google may still use it in aggregated, anonymized form (for example industry benchmarks) and its support staff may access it only to fix technical problems.

You can turn usage statistics off at any time: Settings → Share anonymous usage stats. This stops both our own usage records and Google Analytics on that device; the app works the same either way.

4. Push notification token

So that you are told when a neighbor messages you, answers your offer, or writes in a club you joined, the app registers a push notification token — a random identifier issued by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (and Apple Push Notification service on iPhone) for this app on this device. We store it with your anonymous ID, the app language and your time zone, and which notification types are on (all are on by default; you can turn each one off in Me → Notifications, and the first time you open the app we tell you this and offer a one-tap "Turn off"). The notification itself contains the sender's display name and a short preview of the message. The token is used only to deliver these notifications — never for advertising or tracking. If you turn every notification type off, the token stays registered but nothing is sent to it. It is deleted when you delete your account, or when the app is removed from the device (the next delivery attempt reports the token as invalid and we delete it).

5. Approximate area for new-sale alerts (on by default when you allow notifications and location — you can turn it off)

"New sales near me" is on by default once you have allowed both notifications and location for the app — your area is sent only after the one-time notice shown when you first open the app (you can turn it off anytime in Me → Notifications, or turn it back on there or with the button on an empty map). While it is on, the app sends your location once and our server keeps only an approximate area — the coordinates rounded to about 10 km (0.1°) — stored with your push notification token. It is used only to find new sales within about 40 km (25 mi) of that area and send you at most one notification a day. Your exact location is never stored. The area is updated only when you open the app somewhere at least one grid square away, and it is deleted immediately when you turn the alerts off or delete your account (or when the app is removed and its notification token becomes invalid). It is never used for advertising or tracking and never shared.

We do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or precise device location history. On Android the advertising ID is used only for install measurement — see Advertising measurement below.

Your device location

If you grant location permission, your device location is used on your device to center the map on your area, to filter sales within the radius you choose, to show how far a sale is from you, and — while new-sale alerts are on — to let the daily 5 PM reminder mention the nearest sale for the next day (its neighborhood and rough distance). For that reminder the app keeps, on your device only, a short list of the nearest sale's neighborhood and distance for each of the next few weeks — no coordinates or addresses — and deletes it when you turn new-sale alerts off. Your exact coordinates are never transmitted to us or stored. Only two things derived from it can reach our server: the coarse distance range to the nearest sale described in Anonymous usage statistics above (for example "under 25 km"), and — while new-sale alerts are on (on by default after you allow notifications and location; you can turn them off) — the approximate area (about 10 km) described in item 5 above. Separately, Google Analytics estimates an approximate city from your IP address (item 3) — that does not use your device's location. The app works without location; you can also search any place by typing an address.

How your information is used and shared

Community rules, reporting and blocking

Sales and posts are user-generated content. You can report any sale or post from its menu, block a seller or neighbor so you never see their sales and posts again (Settings → Blocked neighbors to undo), and hide individual sales you don't want to see. Before your first post you agree to the community rules; we have zero tolerance for abuse. We review reports and remove content that violates these rules: no harassment, hate, scams, illegal or prohibited items, adult content, or other people's private information. Repeat offenders may be removed.

Data retention and deletion

Permissions

Map data

Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap (Android) and Apple Maps (iOS). Your map viewport requests are handled by those providers under their own privacy policies, as with any map application.

Advertising

LocalSale shows no third-party advertising. The only promotional content inside the app is cards for

other apps made by the same developer — a section in Settings and a pop-up when the app opens (with Close

and Don't show today); tapping a card opens that app's store page. To avoid showing you an app you already

have, the app checks on your device only whether those specific apps are installed; that result is never

sent anywhere. Nothing about you is sent to anyone to decide what appears.

Advertising measurement

To understand which ads bring people to LocalSale, the app uses the Meta Platforms, Inc. SDK to

measure app installs and launches. When this is active, your device's advertising ID (on Android)

and app install/open events are sent to Meta. Your name, email address, precise location and

photos are never sent.

We do not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and therefore do not show an App Tracking

Transparency prompt; on iOS, attribution relies on Apple's aggregated SKAdNetwork.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android device settings

(Settings → Privacy → Ads). Meta's handling of this data is described at

https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy.

Children

LocalSale is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We will update this page when the app changes what it collects. The effective date at the top shows the latest revision.

1.25 (iOS) / 1.58 (Android)

Google Analytics for Firebase(앱 버전 1.17(iOS)·1.44(Android)부터).

지도 타일은 OpenStreetMap(Android)·Apple 지도(iOS)에서 불러옵니다.
